Clubs & Organizations

¶¶Òõpro offers a number of clubs & organizations to our students built upon academics, personal interests, and leadership. Student Organizations range from The Nursing Club and the Business Club to Phi Theta Kappa national honor society and the Tabletop Roleplaying Games Club. Active student clubs and organizations change each semester, and can be viewed via the MCCS app. If we don’t have what you’re looking for we’ll work with you to develop it! Our goal is to have a range of offerings so that all our students have a chance to get involved.

Campus Activities Team (CAT)

We offer campus activities throughout the year to bring the ¶¶Òõpro community together. These events are a great way to get out and enjoy the campus, meet new people, and have some fun!

The Campus Activities Team (CAT) is a group of students dedicated to making the ¶¶Òõpro experience fun and engaging through planning, preparing, and hosting events! CAT hosts events such as bingo, trivia, roller-skating outings, paint nights, game nights, and our weekly Pack Nights! If you like to plan events or parties, want to get involved on campus, or build your resume, look no further! Meetings are open to all ¶¶Òõpro students.

Phi Theta Kappa Honors Society

Alpha Chi Nu is the award-winning chapter of Phi Theta Kappa (PTK), the leading honors society for two-year colleges. PTK is built upon the hallmarks of leadership, fellowship, scholarship, and service. Members are eligible for a number of benefits, including scholarships, discounts, professional development opportunities, and local, regional, and international leadership positions and awards. Students who have completed over 12 credits and earned a 3.5 GPA or higher will be invited to join the society by its leadership.

Members are also given special accolades, including participation in the formal induction ceremony, a notation on their transcript, an additional seal on their diploma, and the opportunity to wear special regalia during the graduation ceremony.

The society meets weekly throughout the year, working on a yearly research project, a yearly large-scale campus service project, and community service projects. Past examples of projects completed by PTK include the creation of the Captain’s Cupboard, our on-campus student food pantry, and Culture Fest, a yearly celebration of our diverse community.

Student Government

The Student Senate, ¶¶Òõpro’s student government, oversees recognition and funding of other student organizations, advocates for student rights, and plans campus activities and events.

The Student Senate:

  • Makes decisions and implements ideas regarding college policy and student life.
  • Manages a large portion of the money collected from the Unified Student Fee, which is used to fund student organizations and student activities.
  • Oversees clubs and other student organizations.
  • Plans and hosts activities for the student body.
  • Advocates for the student body on issues that are of concern to students.

Leadership Awards

The Leadership Excellence Awards are given to acknowledge the outstanding work of students, faculty, and staff at the College. Overseen by the Office of Student Engagement and the Student Senate, the awards are hosted every April, with nominations usually opening in March. Any current student, faculty, or staff member may submit nominations. Awards include the Leader of the Pack, Rising Star, Social Justice Leader, Unsung Hero, Exemplary Student Employee, Community Builder Award, New Student Organization of the Year, Outstanding Student Organization, Residence Life Event of the Year, Event of the Year, Midcoast Event of the Year, Distinguished Club/Organization Advisor, the Extra Mile Staff Award, and the Extra Mile Faculty Award.

Additional Opportunities for Involvement

Collegiate Leadership Competition (CLC)

Every April the College participates in the Collegiate Leadership Competition (CLC). Our team will consist of 4-6 students who will meet weekly in person or online to practice leadership skills through games and activities. Founded in 2015, Collegiate Leadership Competition (CLC) provides collegians passionate about leadership with a practice field. Students actively apply their learning via our global leadership competition. We make leadership a tangible, high-impact learning experience for future leaders.

Student Life Assistants (SLAs)

Student Life Assistants (SLAs) work for the Department of Student Life and serve the offices of Residence Life, Student Engagement, Advocacy Resource Center, and the Dean of Student’s Office. They provide the primary staffing for the Student Life Help Desk in Spring Point Hall and Orion Hall to assist students in accessing resources, mail, equipment, and information. SLAs work to promote the educational, cultural, and social programs happening on campus which provide for crucial community and individual student development.

Recreation Assistant

The Recreation Assistants support Student Life’s recreational activities and the Hutchinson Union Building (HUB) front desk operations. This role enhances student engagement and wellness through recreational programming and provides essential security and customer service support at the HUB front desk.

Captain’s Cupboard Volunteers

The ¶¶Òõpro Captain’s Cupboard is an inclusive space addressing food insecurity by providing free access to food, toiletries, clothing, and other essentials. The Captain’s Cupboard is run by committed volunteers whose mission is to remove barriers to healthy nourishment and student success. The South Portland and Midcoast Captain’s Cupboards proudly serve ~300 visitors per month. Our food is generously provided by the Good Shepherd Food Bank, South Portland Food Cupboard, MidCoast Hunger Prevention Program, and Wayside Foods. You may .

Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI) Programming Committee

The JEDI (Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion) Programming Committee develops and hosts educational and celebratory events on campus regarding topics of diversity, identity, equity, and social justice. Common topics and points of interest include Black History, LGBTQIA+, Indigenous People’s Day, Hispanic Heritage Month, Disability, Human Rights, etc. We welcome students, faculty, and staff to join us! Nonpartisan Voter Engagement Coalition

Student Leadership Development

Throughout the year students will have opportunities to participate events, seminars, and workshops to develop your leadership skills.

Student Ambassadors

Serve as student tour guides and work with the Admissions Office to introduce prospective students to ¶¶Òõpro.

Resident Assistants (RAs)

Promote community and well-being among the residential life community on campus through programming and peer counseling.
